Summer Camp 2022

Our Safe Spaces tradition of summer camp continues! This year, our students took cooking classes, conducted science experiments, and got to dance, draw, and make music! From robotics lessons to nail painting, we are always finding new experiences to offer our students to support their learning. And of course, we want them to have FUN! So we make sure to add in sports days, games, parties, and other ways to celebrate the joy of childhood. Summer camp is only possible through our generous donors, and we thank you for giving our Safe Spaces kids a full year of education, community, and fun.

2021-2022 School year begins

After a productive summer camp, we are thrilled to welcome our students back for the 2021-2022 school year.
This year starts in person as the Covid-19 precautions are being slowly lifted across the country, bringing the students back to learning from the classrooms.
Mr. Ghaleb Charif, Director of Safe Spaces Lebanon, emphasized on the importance of the team’s efforts not only in helping students return to an in-person education system, but also in developing teaching methods adapted to what the students have experienced over the past two years.
We greatly appreciate your continuous support and contribution which have allowed us to provide our students with an academic journey.

2021 Summer Camp

As part of our 2021 Summer Camp activities, Safe Spaces Lebanon Center organized a sports day at the Cavallo Equestrian Club.

During this day, our children took a tour of the club and the stables, and then rode the horses and camels on the race tracks.

Our children also practiced some archery, also offered at the club. The day was filled with good humor and competitive spirits.

Board Meeting Update

Tonight at our U.S. Board meeting, we heard updates on our team in Lebanon. While the country is experiencing many hardships, our Safe Spaces team continues to find creative ways to provide a stable presence.

Despite the electricity outages (electricity is available only an hour or two each day across Lebanon), students have been able to continue to meet for school. And our school administrator, Ghaleb Charif, has set up a carpool for our teachers since fuel shortages have made transportation difficult.

We are so proud of our team for being so dedicated to this work, and we will continue to support them in every way to ensure their continued success. We ask for your prayers for them and for everyone in Lebanon as they continue to navigate these difficult economic times.

Robotics at Safe Spaces Center

Thanks to the team at Maker Play Parish, who presented Safe Spaces Lebanon Center with Robotics equipment, it has been possible to include Robotics technology in our 2021 Summer Camp program. The Safe Spaces Lebanon team is introducing computer systems and coding to build and control a robot. Although unfamiliar with the concept, our students showed eagerness to learn the needed soft skills, which will broaden their horizons in innovation and scientific development.

Summer Camp 2021

As we launch the 2021 Summer Camp, we organized a sports day at the StreetBall Sports Club with the participation of the Safe Spaces Lebanon team. Our kids were excited, teaming up and shifting between football, basketball, ping pong, badminton, and others. After their exercise, our athletes were presented with a healthy breakfast to recover their energy.

2021 Summer Camp

With the end of the school exams, Safe Spaces Lebanon Center launched the 2021 Summer Camp.
The center’s staff and students alike showed enthusiasm for spending the summer engaging in educational and recreational activities while building the students confidence and independence.
The Safe Spaces team thanks the donors, and supporters for their great role in implementing the NGO’s goals, especially through the current regional, and global circumstances.

During their visit, they accompanied the Lebanon office Director Mr. Ghaleb Charif to our center where they met with the students and the team. They also discussed the educational methods used at the center, in addition to the effect of the pandemic on the educational sector and the transformation in behaviors.

Eid Al-Fitr at the school

To double the fun, Safe Spaces Center organized an even that celebrates both Eid Al-Fitr and the achievements of our outstanding students. After various activities that demonstrated a great team spirit and cooperation between the students, Safe Spaces Center distributed gifts and wished the kids a lovely Eid.

Happy Eid to all, may it be a start of happier times and circumstances.

Food Distribution

The second arrival of The holly month of Ramadan during the economical crisis is definitely worrying for many families in Lebanon. It was therefore evident that Safe Spaces reorganises distributions of food parcels to the families in the Naddaf center. It is more than ever than our sense of solidarity is tested, and it is essential that we try our best to alleviate difficulties of those around us.
So we are grateful to our donors who keep on giving us the chance to organise necessary aids, and hang on until better days.
